Jeremy Owens 2008The CrossWalk has been organized by Pathway Outreach Ministries.  The CrossWalk is an annual event to bear witness to Jesus Christ and His sacrifice for us on Good Friday.  Our theme verse is Galatians 6:14 NKJV, “But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.”

Our motivation for bearing the cross is one of love for Jesus Christ and love for others so they may know Him as Savior and Lord.  We pray this will also be an encouragement to other Christians to be active in their witness for Christ.  The CrossWalk is not a protest, a parade or a fundraiser.  It is simply a witness of the crucified and risen Christ.

This is a cooperative effort of many different churches and ministers in Etowah and Marshall Counties. The CrossWalk covers thirty-three miles, trekking from the Coosa River in Gadsden to the Tennessee River in Guntersville.  The cross will be relayed at ten different points and each cross bearer will carry the cross three to four miles each.  At each relay, the one who has finished his trek will pray for the one about to bear the cross.  The thirty-three miles is covered by prayer.

Salvation Described by God’s Word

Romans 3:23 NKJV
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Romans 6:23 NKJV
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 5:8 NKJV
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 10:9,10 NKJV
9 That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
