Journey Update: September 2023

You may be like me, so happy the hot days of August are behind us. For sure we will have more warm days, but most consider Labor Day as the end of summer.

Life passes a segment at a time. We are often eager for certain times to pass and yearn in anticipation for more joyful times to come—like Christmas for a child. As I have gotten older, I try to pace myself in the short term. I enjoy my first cup of coffee in the morning, read my Bible, pray, and try to do something productive everyday. The pursuits of life are won in the everyday battles. I do not concern myself about an earthly legacy but strive to hear one day, “Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things” (Matt. 25:21 NKJV).

We live in uncertain times. It seems the world has flipped everything upside down. God and His Word is always right side up. Jesus said, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33 NKJV). I want to encourage you to stay strong in the Lord, be faithful to walk in the ways of Jesus, be true to His Word, and show the love and light of Christ in a world of hate and darkness. We are not of this world; we are children of the Kingdom of God.

As I communicate with our ministry partners around the world, I hear their heart and see their faithfulness as they minister in very difficult places. They share with me the burdens and the victories of God’s children living in poor villages and busy towns. They are grateful for you all who faithfully share in their lives and ministry. Hope often comes with just knowing somewhere in another land there are Christians who care, love, and support. Thank you for sharing your Christlike love with the people in distant corners. Just remember, your hands through this ministry reach out to six countries of the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

In August, I preached at New Life Christian Center (Sardis City) with a message about the “Word” as found in John 1:1. The following week, I wrote a blog post based on that sermon with the post titled, “And the WORD Is.” The post can be found at PathwayJourney.com or you can read the post here.

Journey of the Messiah, Book Update: Pleasant Valley FCM Church in Gallant hosted a Book Discussion in August. We began with a fellowship meal and afterwards had an informal discussion about the book. It was like a wonderful conversation with a friend except with a room full of friends. They gave some great feedback and had an interesting array of questions. It was a blessed time with my brothers and sisters at Pleasant Valley.

If your church or group would like to host a book event (signing, book discussion, and/or speaking engagement) please contact me. I have copies of the book you can purchase directly from me. You can also order online at WestBowPress.com or use this link to order on WestBow’s website. The book is also available on Amazon.com, you can use this link to order on Amazon.

We appreciate all of your prayers and support for Pathway Outreach Ministries.

Rejoicing in the salvation which is by grace through faith, I am…

Yours on the Journey,

Harry L. Whitt
