Journey Update: September 2024

Just before sitting down to write this update, I reviewed the weather forecast for this week here in Alabama. We have the hope of a few days with the highs in the 70s and some significant rain. I am so ready for Autumn weather. It has been a scorching summer.

Our grandkids are back in school since the first part of August. This school year our oldest is a senior in high school and our youngest is in the first grade. Time flies!

Our school in Haiti began September 9th. Thanks for all your help in helping our students begin with uniforms. The situation in Haiti is still very difficult. The folks there are very concerned with uncertainty and insecurity. The gangs rule about eighty percent of the capital city of Port-au-Prince.

Journey Update: August 2024

Pathway Outreach Ministries just celebrated our 30th Anniversary as a ministry. We were officially incorporated on July 1, 1994. It is only by God’s wonderful grace and the faithfulness of our supporters that we have made it thus far. It has been a great blessing in my life to have served as founder and executive director for these many years.

I have traveled to corners of the world that as a young man I could never have dreamed. The relationships made with many servants of God of various nationalities and with folks here at home have been wonderful. I have had mountaintops of joy and deep-ditch moments of despair. I praise Jesus for calling me and for my brothers and sisters who have sent me. It has been a wild ride! There is much more work to do as we minister in the world for the Kingdom of God. Thank you all who have blessed us by your prayers, encouragement, and support.

In July, I had a wonderful ministry opportunity. I spent two days with Pastor Johny Pierre Charles at Eglise Porte Etroite (Haitian church in Albertville) for a church leadership conference. I was one of three instructors. I led four sessions with teaching and Q&A afterwards. It was a great blessing. The ladies of the church provided some wonderful meals. They had a great turnout of those involved in local church ministry.

For some time, we have partnered with a young minister in Uganda by the name of Oguttu Godfrey (informally called Eskola). He has had a great summer of ministry, where he has focused on students in secondary schools. He has visited 25 different schools, preaching to a total of 4500 students, and reaping a harvest of about 800 students who professed faith in Christ. God is blessing his faithfulness.

We sent the funds for the Haitian school uniforms and books to Pastor Baptiste. Thanks so much for everyone who helped. This is always a big financial undertaking and you all respond so faithfully. I mention it one time and everyone just gets it done. For the last three to four years, they have to use some inventive ways to get the fabric shipped from Port-au-Prince to the church but God seems to make a way. It is really a miracle project on both ends. It will sound strange to some ears, but in the last thirty years of journeying with Jesus we have gotten accustomed to miracles.

Last month, Pastor Baptiste led the church in open-air prayer and worship constantly for about two weeks or more. They have been storming the spiritual realm for their community and country. Please stand with our Haitian brothers and sisters in prayer as they do spiritual warfare for their country. We pray that God would bring about stability, security, and prosperity to Haiti.

Also please pray for our spiritual partners in three other countries in the world. All three are in areas where we need to be discreet on the internet.

Also please be in pray for the United States. I believe our own country is on a precipice. We need another Great Awakening to turn the hearts of our people back to God. Consider this scripture: “So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one” (Ezekiel 22:30 NKJV). I have committed myself to be a “ONE” that would pray and stand in the gap for our land. Will you join me? Not for one prayer but a prayer each day.

Thank you all for your love, encouragement, financial support, and prayers. We would appreciate your financial support for this ministry. You can find the different options for giving on our donation page here.

Rejoicing in the salvation which is by grace through faith, I am…

Journey Update: April 2024

Here in Alabama, everything is covered with a light green powder of pine pollen. It covers everything like Moses’ manna in the desert wilderness. Just a few weeks ago we celebrated Resurrection Sunday. Our CrossWalk was on Good Friday and it went well with many participants on our journey from Gadsden to Guntersville witnessing to the world of our Savior, Jesus Christ. A big thank you to everyone who participated and encouraged us on this trek with the cross.

I was privileged and blessed to preach at Eglise Porte Etroite (Haitian church in Albertville) this past month. The house was packed with worshippers and it was a wonderful service. We were blessed to see three young adults accept Jesus on that Sunday morning.

Just a few weeks ago, I preached in the Spring Revival at Pleasant Valley FCM Church in Gallant. This is a special church to me and Jennie. We have known the pastor and his family a long time. It was a joy to be with David and Karen Umphrey. All the folks there are a blessing. They have been faithful supporters of Pathway Outreach Ministries for many years.

Our work in Haiti continues in spite of the many troubles in that country. Many of you have seen the news reports of the chaos and violence there. The whole country is suffering as prices of goods have greatly increased. We continue to be able to get funds to them for our school and ministry. It is very important in these trying times to continue to help them any way we can. It cost more now to feed the students in the school. Prices of rice and other food items have greatly increased because of inflation in the overall global economy in addition to the scarcity and transportation issues due to the violence in the country.

The work of God continues. Pastor Baptiste sent me a message with pictures of five people who were baptized in the ocean the last week of March. Hallelujah! It is always a blessing to see people coming into the Kingdom of God and following Jesus as His disciples.

All the folks in Haiti need our prayers. Please pray for a resolution to the many problems afflicting the people every day. It seems like no country in the world wants to step up to help them with actual solutions. There are many good people in Haiti but just like the world over, there are leaders who love money, power, and control more than they love their people. I hear this often from Haiti, “Only God can help us!”

We appreciate everyone who has helped us with our efforts to help the Haitian people. There are many innocent people suffering. Thank you again for your heart to help.

Our work touches not only Haiti but a total of six countries of the world. July of this year will mark the 30th Anniversary of this ministry. I have been an eye witness of many monthly miracles in these many years. Thank you for your prayers and contributions. Please continue to help us to help others as we share Jesus with the world. God has greatly blessed us by you.

Rejoicing in the salvation which is by grace through faith, I am…

Journey Update: November 2023

Thanksgiving is just days away. We pray you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends. We are so thankful for you and your support of Pathway Outreach Ministries. Every month is thanksgiving to us as we receive your gifts with a heart of gratitude. Faithful giving is a great blessing.

We see the fire of wars on our screens and we hear of rumors of greater wars. None of these things takes God by surprise. He saw it all before it began! God knew we would be alive during these times, so do not be afraid but trust in the Lord. Pray for Israel and our country. Take a few minutes and read my blog post, “Wars and Rumors of Wars.”

We appreciate those who have given toward our new toilet facility for our school in Haiti. At the time of this post this project is fully funded. Thanks again for everyone who helped with your generous support. Construction is underway. These new facilities will be able to be maintained and last for many years to come.

We have ministry connections in many parts of the world and also here in the United States. The sun is always shining somewhere where our hands have reached and our feet have gone. Some of our locations are not published for security reasons.

As the situation in the world has greatly declined in the last five years, we remain hopeful and faithful with the help of God to continue in the work of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Every situation raises new questions of safety, supply, and the increased cost of goods and services. As I have said many times, God does not just call us to the easy places. So we greatly ask for your prayers as we walk into the future with a desire to please and obey God.

We have arrangements for a mission trip in the early part of 2024. Please pray for God’s power to manifest with us. Some of these trips are long and difficult. We need your prayers.

I was privileged to preach in one session of a three day convention at Ministerio Luz de las Naciones in Albertville on November 2-4. There were six speakers at this event with most coming from different countries. It was an honor to be invited to speak. It was a wonderful event with about 400-500 people in attendance. The other preachers preached some powerful messages and I was greatly blessed to soak in the Word and Holy Spirit every day. I appreciate the ministry invitation from Apostle Fernando Rodriguez who oversees twelve churches. I was able to share a message of a servant’s heart to the nations.

I have available copies of my book, “Journey of the Messiah: The Awakening”, available for direct purchase from me if you live in my locality. You may contact Harry Whitt via email here.

Another option is to order one directly from our ministry that will be mailed to you (only in the contiguous United States) for total price of $20 including shipping and handling. Here is our order form.

You may also order online at WestBowPress.com or Amazon.com.

Journey Update: October 2023

Driving up Sand Mountain, I noticed the leaves on the trees beginning to change. The green color has begun to fade and there is a hint of yellow and red. Our calendar told us it was autumn on September 23, but I never believe it until I hear rattling leaves under my feet. Fall is my favorite season!

As seasons change on the calendar, yet we look for tangible signs which we can see and feel. In the world which we live, often politicians and news reports tells us one thing, but we feel something different in our lives and sense something brewing beyond our natural senses. We are living in strange times. What do we need to do? For starters, double down on our spiritual disciplines such as prayer, intercession, study of God’s Word, fellowship with other believers, and obedience to those nuanced urgings of Holy Spirit.

Journey Update: September 2023

You may be like me, so happy the hot days of August are behind us. For sure we will have more warm days, but most consider Labor Day as the end of summer.

Life passes a segment at a time. We are often eager for certain times to pass and yearn in anticipation for more joyful times to come—like Christmas for a child. As I have gotten older, I try to pace myself in the short term. I enjoy my first cup of coffee in the morning, read my Bible, pray, and try to do something productive everyday. The pursuits of life are won in the everyday battles. I do not concern myself about an earthly legacy but strive to hear one day, “Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things” (Matt. 25:21 NKJV).

Journey Update: August 2023

I pray you all are doing well. Schools here in the United States are about to begin a new year. Our grandkids will start August 9th. We have five grandchildren with the oldest beginning her junior year of high school and our youngest beginning kindergarten. They almost span the whole range. We need to pray for all of our students, not only for a good education, but also for their physical safety and proper spiritual influence.

Schools in Haiti begin September 11th. Some schools were temporarily closed last year because of the violence. Some schools especially in Port-au-Prince are venerable to the gang violence and insecurity because of their location near gang hot spots. Thankfully our location is in a rural area which gives us some insulation from the gang activity. Pastor Baptiste and his staff have kept our school open. They are faithfully working in these difficult times to keep the ministry of the school and church progressing while the country regresses. I guess if it was easy everyone would be doing it. Light and goodness always shines the brightest in the midst of darkness and evil.

We sent the money for the school uniforms this past month. Last year the material had to be transported by boat instead of by truck for safety reasons. It will probably be the same this year. It seems the situation is getting worse rather than better. Please pray for peace, security, and order in Haiti. We continue to provide for our work in the school and church.

I enjoyed preaching at Eglise Porte Etroite (Haitian Church in Albertville) on July 23rd. It was my first time to preach in their newly acquired facilities on Rose Road (previously Pilgrim’s Rest Baptist Church). It has a much larger sanctuary built in 1995 with a seating capacity of about three hundred. When I preach there, they want me to come back on Sunday night for a Q & A session where I give a quick overview of the morning’s message and then have a time of questions and answers about the morning message. It is quite interesting and fun. Pastor Johny Pierre Charles also helps explain and expound on some of the points as well.

Journey of the Messiah, Book Update: Pleasant Valley FCM Church in Gallant will host a book discussion with me on Sunday night, August 27th at 5:00 pm. It is like a question and answer format. They invite everyone to come. Contact me if you would like to host a book signing, book discussion, or speaking engagement. I have copies of the book you can purchase directly from me or you can order online at WestBowPress.com. The QR code located below will allow you a quick connect to my book page at WestBowPress.com for more book information and/or to order a book directly from them. The book is also available on Amazon.com.

We appreciate all of your interest, concern, prayers, and financial support for the ministry of Pathway Outreach Ministries. Without God’s anointing and blessings, and your prayers and support, we would be a straw in the wind. Thank you all for your contributions!

Pathway Outreach Ministries’ Monthly Update

I thank you all for standing with us in concern, prayer and financial support. In July, Pathway Outreach Ministries will turn twenty-nine years old. I was only a mere child of thirty-nine then. At the time, perhaps some may have thought it a fleeting fancy of a young zealot—I would not have blamed them for having such thoughts. I do not claim to have kept it alive this long; it is by God’s grace and provision we have made it to this mark. The sails have fluttered a few times, but God blew upon us to carry us over the waves. I thank God and give Him all the credit and glory. We have never sought to be anything other than a instrument in God’s hand.

Pathway Outreach Ministries’ Monthly Update

Happy belated Fourth of July to you! I wrote this letter prior to July 4th but I know the mailing will not reach you until later. Whenever I have traveled beyond our borders it has always been a sigh of relief and blessing to disembark from the plane and step on American soil. My wife and I have an inside joke when I make my first call from a US airport, my words are these, “I could hitchhike from here if I had to.” It is a real paradox that those on the outside of our country are clamoring to enter, while many on the inside are too eager to disparage it.
